Alfonso Miranda (Centre for Research and Teaching in Economics)

Alfonso Miranda is Professor in Economics at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (Centro de Investigacin y Docencia Econmicas) (CIDE), Mexico. Before joining CIDE in August 2012, Alfonso was a Lecturer in Social Statistics at the the Department of Quantitative Social Science, Institute of Education, University of London, UK. He obtained his BSc in Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) (Hons) and MSc and PhD degrees in Economics at the University of Warwick, UK.

Alfonso’ls research interests include the development of methods for the estimation of nonlinear econometric models for cross-section and panel data and its applications to demographic, education, and health economics. His research has mainly focused in the development of strategies to deal with problems of sample selection, endogenous treatment and endogenous participation for ordinal, count and binary variables. Additionally, Alfonso also shares an interest on dynamic models, quantile regression and hazard models. Alfonso has been published in Health Economics, Economics Letters, Journal of Population Economics, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A, Fiscal Studies, Research in Labor Economics and Stata Journal.
